Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.
A senior official commented the attack rendered him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
